SOBER (CURIOUS)
SEPTEMBER
Beginning September
This year we’re doing a spin on Sober September, and instead of asking people to give up a vice for 30 days, we’re asking the general public to become Sober CURIOUS.
What Is “Sober Curious”?
Sober curiosity involves evaluating your relationship with alcohol and encourages people to think about their decision to drink rather than just conforming to societal pressures. This often could mean cutting back on how much or how often you drink, or it could mean attending social events without alcohol present or simply opting out of gatherings where alcohol may be present.
The degree to which someone can be sober curious varies, but the intention is to evaluate the relationship someone might have with alcohol (and other substances) and make an informed decision.
Why Sober CURIOUS vs. just Sober?
Thorpe has taken this approach this year to further their reach to not only those who wish to participate in becoming sober or sober curious, but also to the general public to help provide opportunities where alcohol is not required to present.
Thorpe also hopes to continue this trend beyond September and encourage the continuation of sober curiosity for those interested.

Third Party Fundraisers
Do you want to support Thorpe Recovery Centre with your own event or campaign? Third Party Fundraisers are a fantastic way to give back to your community and support recovery services.
What is a Third Party Fundraiser?
An event or initiative organized by an individual, community group, or company that is not an official event or campaign coordinated by the Thorpe Recovery Centre. Third Party Fundraisers are an important resource to help us be a leading, community-based organization that provides strength, hope, and healing through programming and supports to those affected by addiction and mental health needs.
When you organize a Third Party Fundraiser, you are not only raising money to support Thorpe Recovery Centre; you are also raising awareness about recovery services and the important work we do. This increase in awareness is an invaluable component to our prosperity in the community.
We ask that all fundraisers being held to support Thorpe Recovery Centre are presented to Thorpe Recovery Centre for approval and indicate how they will be compatible with our mission, vision, values and Third Party Fundraising policies.
What Will Your Fundraiser Benefit?
There are several options and areas of our service you can support with your fundraiser including:
– Serenity Garden
– Area of Greatest Need
– Capital Debt Reduction
– Treatment Fund (via LRHF)
You can also pick something close to your heart; no matter what you will be a friend of recovery!
