NIGHT OFF

May 1, 2021

Traditionally, our annual Night Off Event encourages you to stay home and do nothing for a good
cause. However, this year we’re all itching to go out and have some fun. Here’s a compromise:

Instead of encouraging you to do nothing, we’re inviting you to host your own personal, pandemic-friendly party! Get dressed up, put on some tunes, order take-out, and support recovery in our community. It’s our 45th Anniversary and we’re so disheartened we couldn’t celebrate in person with you. We hope this is a fun way for you to connect with your loved ones in a safe manner while still feeling like you’re helping out Thorpe Recovery Centre.

Your ticket will not only support the addiction treatment services at Thorpe Recovery Centre, but it will also give you a customized Night Off 2021 playlist on Spotify (filled with jams from local artists and the hits from 1975), a direct order link to local vendors and more!

SOBER
SEPTEMBER

SEPTEMBER 1 – SEPTEMBER 30

Be a Sober Hero: Give Up Alcohol for 30 Days*

Legions of fantastic, incredible, and uncanny characters are about to descend for Sober September, many of them are people we know, who have been living a quiet civilian life… until now.

An easy way to show your support to someone you know who is recovering or working through addiction is to join us in the Sober September challenge, where, for 30 days you give up alcohol* and join in arms with those who are on their recovery journey.

*Don’t drink? There are many other vices to give up like coffee, smoking, sugar, television, and more!

Join the Thorpe Recovery Centre’s Sober Heroes

  1. Sign Up and create your own Sober September fundraising page. Commit to Sober September and pledge yourself, a team, or your business.
  2. Raise Funds. Gather support from your friends, family, and colleagues or make a donation yourself for the cause!
  3. Tell Everyone. Share your journey and use the hashtag #TRCSoberHero, and help us change the story of addiction.

Sober Heroes raise awareness about addiction in their community by sharing their Sober September experience with others and also raise funds for the Thorpe Recovery Centre.

Something New – Third Party Fundraisers

Third Party Fundraisers are a fantastic way to give back to your community and support a local charity and social services like the Thorpe Recovery Centre.

What is a Third Party Fundraiser?

An event or initiative organized by an individual, community group, or company that is not an official event or campaign coordinated by the Thorpe Recovery Centre. Third Party Fundraisers are an important resource to help us be a leading, community-based organization that provides strength, hope, and healing through programming and supports to those affected by addiction and mental health needs.

When you organize a Third Party Fundraiser, you are not only raising money to support Thorpe Recovery Centre; you are also raising awareness about addiction and the important work we do. This increase in awareness is an invaluable component to our prosperity in the community.

We ask that all fundraisers being held to support Thorpe Recovery Centre are presented to Thorpe Recovery Centre for approval and indicate how they will be compatible with our mission, vision, values and Third Party Fundraising policies.

What Will Your Fundraiser Benefit?

There are several options and areas of our service you can support with your fundraiser including:

– Serenity Garden
– Area of Greatest Need
– Capital Debt Reduction
– Treatment Fund (via LRHF)

You can pick something close to your heart; no matter what you will be a friend of recovery!

Third Party Fundraiser Information Kit

This will help you understand who we are, what support we can provide to you and what we require from you for your fundraiser. It reviews the approval process, logo usage, promotions, insurance and liability, sponsorship, volunteers, Thorpe Recovery Centre representative request and tax receipt processes. It will also review what support we give to you, the hosting of the third part fundraiser, such as providing logos, messages, speaking notes, on-line fundraising platforms, social media and website promotion etc.

SOBER
SEPTEMBER

SEPTEMBER 1 – SEPTEMBER 30

While many of us are not addicted to alcohol or drugs, we all have our vices. Whether it’s coffee, online shopping, fast food, binge watching Netflix, or eating too much sugar- we imagine there’s something we could all give up in our lives that would make us a bit healthier. We’re inviting you to do just that: give it up (at least for the month of September), and become a SoberHero*.

Sober Heroes raise awareness about addiction in their community by sharing their Sober September experience with others and also raise funds for the Thorpe Recovery Centre.

*Cape and “whooshing” sound effects optional (but highly encouraged).
